Microsoft’s Windows Vista Fails Speech Recognition Demo

Failed Demo on Live TV

I wish Microsoft would get a clue about actually having demo’s that work when they are supposed to. Microsoft knows how to operate as a business and generate revenue, but there needs to be massive reconstruction to restore the public’s faith in its software. The delay of Vista, unwelcome use of DRM and Genuine Advantage, among many other things are not going to sustain Microsoft as a power house much longer.

The tides are starting to turn, and open source is gaining ground. Linux will never succeed on the desktop until it becomes more unified, but the major players in the game are making clear strides within that respect. Apple is also coming on strong with OS X clearly being the most advanced operating system on the market (which is somewhat debatable now), and even more so when OS X Leopard is released.

There is a place for every Operating System in this industry, some meant for certain tasks more than others. That being said, it is unclear just which one will prevail for this (speech recognition) specific function. In fact the lines are not as clear cut on which operating system is used for abc as it was 5 years ago.
